Course summary

We are seeking accreditation for this course to be a HTQ. The course is delivered through a multidisciplinary approach where a range of topics are taught by not only staff from SASS, but a range of health and social care professionals (e.g. nurses, allied health practitioners, family support workers, youth workers, social workers etc.). This means the learning will benefit from expert knowledge from those with real experience in the sector as well as research-active staff. The course will enable you to progress to a BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies or BSc Criminology. As a student on the Youth Justice Practitioner course, you will explore current theory, legislation, practice and evidence relating to working effectively with children in the youth justice system that will enable you to develop as an informed and reflective youth justice professional who is able to support young people and work collaboratively with other professionals and family members. This course is designed as a FdA providing a clear and distinct focus on professional roles within the criminal justice sector and the skills required by the range of different settings within which a Youth Justice Practitioner would be located. It can provide direct entry into Level 6 to BA or BSc (Hons) and will make the unique offer of integrating functional skills in maths and English.
