Course summary

You’ll get the perfect blend of learning, in and outside of the classroom. We’ll refine your creative problem solving skills through exploring the latest digital technologies and providing hands-on skills, as well as building your confidence and experience through live projects and our annual industry Grand Challenge. As well as the support you’ll get from expert staff and technicians, there’s the chance to set your own direction with a range of optional modules, online resources and projects. Recently students have worked on reverse engineering everyday objects, designing and building a Mars lander, and using industry standard software packages to design and build a model bridge. This all adds up to a confident, work ready graduate who has loads of career options – medical, environmental, automotive, aerospace, resource, advance manufacturing, alternative energy and many more. Our Mechanical Engineering courses are highly practical and use real examples and projects from industry. On this course you’ll be guided how to analyse and solve mechanical engineering problems by producing your own creative and innovative solutions using the latest technology. With the focus firmly on problem-solving and live project work, we aim to give you three to four years of industry experience before you graduate. Who wouldn’t want that on their CV? Accreditation Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Recognised By Industry This course is recognised by CDIO, a framework that has a project based learning approach. This framework stresses engineering fundamentals set in the context of Conceiving — Designing — Implementing — Operating (CDIO) real-world systems and products. The framework is dedicated to providing students with their initial grounding in engineering through live projects.

Qualification requirements

A lower offer may be made based on a range of factors, including your background (such as where you live and the school or college you attended), your experiences and individual circumstances (you may have been in care, for example). This is called a contextual offer and we get data from UCAS to make these decisions. NTU offers a student experience like no other, and this approach helps us to find students who have the potential to succeed here, but may have faced barriers that can make it more difficult to access university. We also consider equivalent qualifications and combinations. Please contact Nottingham Trent University Admissions team for further information.
