MSc Cosmetic Science gives you the skills and knowledge for a rewarding and successful specialist career in the cosmetic and toiletry industry. This exciting applied science course focuses on the needs of the cosmetic industry and its consumers, at the same time as providing students with the critical and evaluative skills to be able to function as professional scientists. What can you expect? MSc Cosmetic Science is an integrated MSc taught over 4 years. This type of course enables students to start as undergraduates and exit with a postgraduate qualification. The MSc qualification offers a distinct advantage in today’s competitive environment. The course provides you with knowledge and understanding of the various disciplines within Cosmetic Science. It teaches the organisation and function of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery industries. These industries have expanded in recent years as consumers have become more aware of the potential benefits of their products. The Cosmetic Toiletry and Perfumery industry demands graduates who have a high level of scientific and technical knowledge coupled with business awareness. MSc Cosmetic Science offers immediate relevance to the industry, with graduates who will already have an understanding of the way the industry operates and the challenges it faces. MSc Cosmetic Science covers a range of sciences, formulation development and industry operations. This gives a broad range of career opportunities. The course has an optional placement year in industry in the third year of the course. Successful completion of this placement year will give you an additional qualification and you will also have the opportunity to make contacts and build relationships within the industry before the end of your studies. London College of Fashion undergraduate courses develop your personal and professional skills. On this course you will develop skills in your discipline until you are an independent creative thinker. Your skills will make you capable of making an effective contribution to this sector of the fashion industry. We embed Personal and Professional Development (PPD) skills in all units on every course. Speaker programmes with contributions from alumni and members of industry are a part of many courses. We encourage graduates who wish to continue their education at postgraduate level to progress to suitable courses within the College, the University or elsewhere. Graduates from the course are employed throughout the industry, both in the UK and internationally, in a wide range of roles. These include research and development, product manufacturing, marketing, technical sales, product testing, quality assurance, logistics, regulation and legislation departments. Some multinational companies, for example, Procter and Gamble and Reckitt Benckiser, recruit directly from the course. This course is based at John Prince’s Street, London College of Fashion's most central site. Located at the heart of Oxford Circus the site has convenient access to every high street shop that London has to offer. The local areas of Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho are home to many of London’s main attractions, points of interest and museums.
