Course summary

Develop self-awareness and empathic relationship skills for supporting others with their emotional wellbeing on our critical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy degree. Then use your new abilities with individuals and groups, in your local community and overseas. Explore how to use counselling and psychotherapy skills ethically to promote social justice. You’ll improve your confidence, self-awareness and active listening skills on our critical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy degree. All with a focus on community action. There’s also an international angle. You’ll see how communities across other countries perceive mental health, based on their personal, social and political experiences and their environment. By the end of the programme, you’ll have the personal qualities and professional skills useful for helping others. At Edge Hill, we invest in your individual emotional development. That’s why you’ll receive £500 to spend on therapy. We’ll also show you how to initiate group work. You’ll be a socially aware, politically engaged, and empathetic graduate.
