Why choose this course? Nursing is a rewarding profession caring for individuals throughout their lifespan. At Wrexham Glyndwr University we will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to become a graduate and NMC registered adult nurse. *This subject area is rated 1st in the UK for student satisfaction in the Nursing subject league tables Complete University Guide 2023. *This course has been rated as part of the CHA3 subject group ranked joint 4th in the UK and 1st out of Welsh universities for teaching on my course and top 10 in the UK and 1st out of Welsh universities for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2022. *This course is part of a subject area rated 1st in the UK for satisfaction with teaching ad well as 2nd in the UK (1st in England & Wales) for course satisfaction and top 10 in England & Wales (14th in the UK) in the General Nursing subject league tables, The Guardian University Guide 2023. Throughout your studies, you will have a personal tutor who will support and guide you in your personal and professional development. You will also be supported by a practice educator/academic assessor/practice supervisor and practice assessor whilst you are working in the clinical environment. Key course features:

- Opportunity for elective practice learning placements in year 2 and year 3 of the programme.
- Placements across the three years will take place in Wales within the Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board for commissioned (funded places). The placements will be based in a wide variety of settings.
- Alternatively, non-commissioned (non-funded) placements (limited) are offered in England for Adult Nursing. We offer a variety of placements in 7 Trust English NHS Trust areas. Please note that we do not access BCUHB for placement learning experiences for the English non-commissioned places.
Modules
What you will study This programme has three core modules in each year of the programme. We use a variety of teaching and learning methods to deliver the course. For example, we use interactive lectures, online forums, case studies and simulation. YEAR 1 (LEVEL 4) In year one you will focus on the fundamental care skills required to practice as a caring, kind, compassionate professional who values and respects the individual needs of the patient, family and carers. MODULES Fundamentals of Practice Managing Vulnerability in Society Foundations of Health and Wellbeing YEAR 2 (LEVEL 5) In year two you will focus on the provision of evidence-based, compassionate and safe care for acute and chronically ill patients. The focus will be upon the delivery of person-centred care and the promotion of healthy behaviours. MODULES Developing the evidence-based practitioner Meeting the needs of patients & families in acute and chronic illness Promoting Healthy Behaviours YEAR 3 (LEVEL 6) In year three you will focus on coordinating and managing change, enhancing people’s health outcomes and personal and professional development to prepare you for becoming a registered nurse. MODULES Innovations in Practice Holistic Co-ordination of Complex Care Leading & Managing Nursing Care The information listed in this section is an overview of the academic content of the programme that will take the form of either core or option modules. Modules are designated as core or option in accordance with professional body requirements and internal academic framework review, so may be subject to change.
Assessment method
Teaching & Assessment Satisfactory completion of the following:
- You need to achieve a minimum of 2300 hours theoretical and 2300 clinical practice to become a registered nurse with the NMC.
- A portfolio of proficiency outcomes.
- A range of theoretical assessments are used in each year of the programme. These include: essays, presentations, case studies, drug calculation and anatomy and physiology exam.
- Academic tutorial support including disability support are available with every module.
