Why choose this course There’s a worldwide shortage of qualified engineers in the petroleum-refining systems-engineering industry. Our Petroleum Refining Systems MSc is filling that gap by providing you with the teaching you need to become a qualified and successful engineer. Our course is taught by experts in the industry, and combines technologies, operations and economics with modelling, simulation, optimisation, and process design and integration, giving you a broad understanding of the industry. What you will study Our Petroleum Refining Systems Engineering MSc will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills you’ll need to pursue engineering careers in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of oil refining and associated downstream processing technologies, operations and economics; process safety and operations integrity; and methods for the optimal design of process systems. Throughout your studies, you’ll learn about the general economics of the energy sector, oil exploration and production, as well as renewable energy systems. You’ll also learn more about petroleum refining through our unique work assignments at a virtual oil-refining and chemical company.

Entry requirements
A minimum of a 2:1 UK honours degree in either Chemistry, Engineering or Physics, or a recognised equivalent international qualification. We'll also consider relevant work experience if you don't meet these requirements. English language requirements IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 in each other element.
