Course summary
Year 1: Fundamentals level Broaden your design knowledge and work with a range of techniques and processes for a number of experimental projects that are open to personal interpretation. Year 2: Commercial level Use the skills from year 1 to produce project work with a strategic, commercial focus. Year 3: Professional level Demonstrate your ability to articulate your advanced design knowledge and skills through the production of engaging and innovative live briefs and major project work. Projects All project requirements take into account the current coronavirus situation. We will not ask students to conduct primary project research that puts their health at risk. Alternative sources will be recommended (such as using online visual references, academic texts and journals). Projects involving specific locations will require students to use media sources such as websites, Google / digital Ordnance Maps and Google Earth. Contact Tutor/Peer contact will consist of a combination of online sessions using Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs, student forum (Google Hangouts/Meet), phone call tutorials and email feedback. All project handbooks and learning support materials and videos will be available to access online. Feedback As students' progress through their studies, clearly written and verbal suggestions and comments are provided on work progress and personal performance. Tutor and peer recommendations are always constructive and leave no doubt about where to make improvements or in which direction to take work. Community It is crucial that the course continues to build and maintain its sense of community. Video sessions and online forums play an integral and invaluable role in ensuring students feel fully supported in their studies. They use these online platforms to share their work and learning experiences, to contact peers and tutors, and to ensure that no one feels alone or isolated as a distance-learning degree student. This Degree is Validated by the University of Hull.
