Course summary

This exciting course has been carefully tailored to prepare you for work in the professional industry. You will explore a wide range of alternative approaches to acting, as well as the naturalistic and classical acting styles, to develop as a well-rounded performer, building a portfolio of experience vital for auditions. At the end of this course you will leave with professional head shots, a voice over show reel, an actor’s show reel, an actor’s CV and knowledge of how to acquire an agent. You will work alongside practitioners to develop and hone your skills in the three disciplines of acting, singing and movement. Working as a company you will prepare for public performances, both in the classical theatre setting but also in site-specific locations, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The course also includes a subsidised trip* to a European City which is linked to an assessed assignment. Previous locations have included Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin and Edinburgh. Throughout the course there are lots of opportunities to see live performances and to work with industry professionals on projects, gaining experience and employment connections. *subject to availability On completion of the HND you will be prepared for a number of different pathways including auditioning for professional work, further study through a top-up to a BA (Hons) degree, or further courses at drama school.

Assessment method

Assessments vary from performances, presentations, essays, workshops and blogs. The course is 80% performance/practical and 20% theory.

Qualification requirements

You must have an HNC in a performing arts related subject Please note that all students who wish to apply for this course who are non-native English speakers, or have not studied the final two years of school/college in English, must demonstrate capability in English to a standard commensurate to: IELTS 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 being awarded on individual sections. PTE Academic score of 42 to 49.
