Course summary

As a postgraduate researcher, you’re able to draw on a wide range of expertise from more than 50 academic staff. You’ll be supported by a supervisory team with expertise in your subject and/or research approach. A research degree will open the door to work in full-time research or teaching, or provide a greater understanding of professional practice. Our specialisms are consumer culture and identity, digital environments, destination marketing and sustainable tourism. Study style There is a strong applied research focus and particular interests in: enterprise and productivity human resources and leadership, management accounting, financial management, as well as marketing and consumer behaviour. We may also be able to offer you effective supervision for cross-disciplinary projects that link to engineering technology, computing, education and health. You’ll receive updates on opportunities to participate in training offered through other universities and bodies. You’re also encouraged to attend national and international academic conferences in the latter stages of your research to present your ideas, and receive feedback at such events. Entry requirements

- MA or MSc by Research/MRes: at least a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent - PhD: a master’s degree or equivalent in a subject area relevant to the proposed research topic - We actively encourage applications from students from different backgrounds who demonstrate appropriate research experience and achievement - EU and international students need IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent


English language requirements

International students will need to produce evidence of an acceptable score on an approved English language test such as IELTS. We run pre-sessional English language courses to help you prepare for undergraduate or postgraduate study.
