Explore your creative design style and prepare for a career in graphic design, learning from lecturers with industry experience and using the latest design software. This course starts each September and is awarded by the University of Surrey. • This course provides a route into careers related to graphic design, illustration, web design, branding, marketing and more • Previous placements have included Meanfiddler, Marks & Spencer, Good Empire, Fast Car Magazine, Drum, Zombie Collective and Quad Graphics • You will have an opportunity to work on live briefs for industry clients • Taught at University Centre Farnborough, with modern study facilities and access to Adobe software • Previous guest visits have included graphic designer Dan Mumford who has worked for exciting clients, including Disney, Sony and Iron Maiden This programme is perfect for those with a creative flair for designing, drawing, web design or photography. We encounter the work of graphic designers every day – on packaging, magazines, books, advertising and online. The ability to explore the different techniques and skills for each of these mediums could lead to a range of interesting careers. WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR? This degree is aimed at students who wish to develop their skills and portfolios to work in the diverse graphic design industry. You might currently be studying a Level 3, A Level, or Access to Higher Education course; be returning to education after a break, or wish to transfer from another higher education institution. It may also be possible for you to join this course in its second or third year following relevant qualifications and/or experience in the workplace.

Recent examples have included packaging design, branding, publication design, web and app interface design.
Assessment method
A wide range of assessment methods are used in this programme, which have been chosen to suit the subject material being taught. The range of assessment methods used in this programme includes in-class tests, practical work, coursework, assignments, examination, practical demonstrations, and production report and project presentations. HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? You will be taught in a series of practical lecturers and workshops, with supporting contextual lectures. You will be taught over two full days per week, giving you more flexibility to balance work or family commitments.
