A great maths teacher can help pupils grasp the basics of geometry while also delivering calculus master classes to gifted young mathematicians. Assessment method
You will be assessed through work based on your classroom experience, showing your ability to plan effectively, undertake assessment and develop your subject knowledge. Your mathematics subject knowledge is assessed through a combination of programme work assignments and presentations. As you progress from observer to teacher in school, you will be assessed through lesson observation reports. Your professional development will be mapped against the Teachers’ Standards for the award of QTS. There are no formal written examinations as part of the current assessment methods on this programme.

Qualification requirements
To join this course you must hold a relevant HND/HNC or Part1 (120 credits at Level 4) of a degree programme, plus GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent). You are expected to have a commitment to, and understanding of, secondary education, demonstrating the personal attributes, values and motivation required to train as a teacher.
