  • You will study towards a professional qualification on the Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation degree, awarded by Equineenergy.
  • You will benefit from lectures, practical sessions and interactive workshops to enhance your learning.
  • We have a wide range of scientific and technological equipment that is used to enhance taught sessions, as well as enabling you to conduct original research projects that are relevant to the industry.
  • You will benefit from our work with the likes of International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC) to bring you specialist tuition and support during your degree.
  • Our research findings have been presented at conferences such as the International Society of Equitation Science, the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare and the British Society of Animal Science.
  • Our course team includes experienced practitioners in both McTimoney Animal Therapy, Veterinary Physiotherapy and Equitation Coaching.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with World Horse Welfare, assisting in the rehabilitation and training of their rescue horses in preparation for re-homing.
The Equine Performance and Business Management programme incorporates the key themes of applied science, development of specialist practical skills, management skills for various enterprises and business skills for all aspects of the equine industry. Students can select to focus their attention more on developing their stud or equitation knowledge. This programme will equip students seeking employment in the diverse equine sector, with a strong grounding in the essential areas relevant to a variety of potential career pathways.

Modules

Specialist modules are as follows: • Training for Performance includes a mix of exercise physiology and equine behaviour. •Grassland and Facilities Management incorporates the science behind the development of the most current equine technologies • Applied and Clinical Nutrition allows students to gain industry standard knowledge about legislation • Four stud specialist options, preparing the student for a career in the breeding industry, incorporating key aspects of stud management, breeding objectives and specialist veterinary and health care and management of the young horse through the developmental stages • Four equitation & coaching modules that develop the student’s riding skills from the coaching perspective • Current Issues in the Equine industry • Equine Computer Applications • Five business based modules, key aspects of business management including the breadth and depth of employment opportunities within the industry.
