Biomedical science explores how cells, organs and systems function in the human body and this area is at the heart of innovation and discovery in modern day medicine. You will explore the range of diseases and disorders that can affect our body and develop the skills to diagnose and treat disease effectively. The interdisciplinary skills gained on this course will prepare you for a variety of careers such as a biomedical scientist, medical writer or research scientist. As our programme is accredited by the professional body for biomedical scientists, principal areas of study (set by the Institute of Biomedical Science) focus on developing the skills needed to work within a hospital environment as a biomedical scientist. Graduates of our Biomedical Science programme often go on to pursue a diverse range of careers, so we have developed an authentic multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of the programme. Instead of offering a module in each of the disciplines within pathology, we look at how each of the disciplines relate to each other.
