Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship (SLA) course offers an exciting opportunity to develop and hone your leadership skills, make a real impact in the workplace, and support your future career aspirations. The course is ideal if you are new to a leadership or senior management role and applicable to a wide range of settings across the public, private or third sectors and in all areas of the economy. You will be enrolled onto a Senior Leader Apprenticeship with the option of a qualification, in the form of a PG Diploma. This will be charged at a nominal fee of £550. Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship uses our unique expertise to develop leaders and managers who are equipped to face the future and create thriving initiatives in challenging times. Exceptional leadership and management are critical to success. Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship is a dynamic course designed to help develop your key leadership and management capabilities within a professional, work-related context. The programme will enable you to continue to earn while learning and to apply your knowledge to improve your leadership skills within the workplace. It also offers you the additional benefits of becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). Top-up to a Masters qualification Upon successful completion of the Senior Leader Apprenticeship (including the PG Diploma) you have the option to top up your award to a Masters; this will possible by completing a final work-based project. This work-based project will require you to choose a subject area which has direct relevance and ‘real life’ impact in the context of your workplace. The chosen subject will need to be discussed and approved by your employer. This top-up qualification is in addition to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship and will need to be self-funded or funded with the support of your employer. Assessment method

You will be assessed at the end of each module you undertake (on-programme assessments) which will contribute towards the final award of your qualification. You will also undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA). This starts once your employer is content that you are working at or above the occupational standard. The End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) is responsible for confirming gateway eligibility. The EPA will enable you to demonstrate your competence against all areas of the apprenticeship standard and consists of two elements: a strategic business proposal and a portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements

In addition to the person specifications that have been set out by your employer, these are the entry requirements for the course. Employment in a suitable role on a permanent contract exceeding 30 hours per week Employer support to undertake this course, with a confirmed and assigned mentor Confirmed eligibility to be funded as an apprentice as set out within the ESFA’s Funding Rules A completed Initial Needs Assessment Form signed by the applicant's employer Evidence of Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English e.g. GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, Functional Skills, or ESFA-approved equivalents* An undergraduate degree from a UK university, normally a 2:1 or above; OR an academic or professional qualification that is equivalent in breadth and depth to a UK honours degree** If English is not your first language, you will be expected to demonstrate a certified level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent; OR you can provide satisfactory evidence that you have been taught and examined through the medium of English.
