Creative Computing (Web Technologies) at Bath Spa University helps you re-image the web as a canvas for connected creativity. The course responds to a pressing need in industry for well-rounded, imaginative individuals with a flair for web creativity. You’ll apply key programming, experience design and web development skills in creative contexts, and contribute to exciting projects with emerging tech companies and freelance developers. Graduating with a stunning portfolio of creative work, you’ll be set up to excel in industry as in-demand fusion of critical thinker and technical expert.

Year One is about mastering the basics. You’ll attend core workshops that cover procedural programming and web development, as well as undertake modules on creative problem solving, experience design, digital storytelling and coding for the visual arts. Learning here is designed to reveal personal interests, and broaden your understanding of how creativity and computing combine. Year Two extends your knowledge of programming to include object-oriented approaches, and provides an opportunity to experiment creatively with new-to-market interface devices. Web Technologies pathway modules teach the principles of responsive web design and smartphone app development, and expose a range of tools and creative strategies that underpin compelling online experiences. Finally in Year Three you’ll consolidate your knowledge of programming and experience design to create web apps, before exploring cutting edge concepts in the field of web creativity. You’ll also spend time developing a significant digital artefact and participating in an industry-focused creative incubator, before showcasing your work publicly to peers and prospective employers.
