Course details
Modules
Year One is about mastering the basics. You’ll attend core workshops that cover procedural programming and web development, as well as undertake modules on creative problem solving, experience design, digital storytelling and coding for the visual arts. Learning here is designed to reveal personal interests, and broaden your understanding of how creativity and computing combine. Year Two extends your knowledge of programming to include object-oriented approaches, and provides an opportunity to experiment creatively with new-to-market interface devices. Web Technologies pathway modules teach the principles of responsive web design and smartphone app development, and expose a range of tools and creative strategies that underpin compelling online experiences. Finally in Year Three you’ll consolidate your knowledge of programming and experience design to create web apps, before exploring cutting edge concepts in the field of web creativity. You’ll also spend time developing a significant digital artefact and participating in an industry-focused creative incubator, before showcasing your work publicly to peers and prospective employers. Assessment method
Creative Computing (Web Technologies) is almost entirely coursework assessed. You deliver a varied and balanced collection of artefacts including prototype software, experiment portfolios, digital interfaces, interactive stories and web apps. Project work is supported by contextual essays, reflective commentaries, sketchbooks, reports, pitches, presentations, debates and b/vlogs.
