Course summary
With a clear focus on employability, this one-year Level 6 programme allows you to “top up” a suitable Foundation degree or HND to a full Bachelor’s. It offers an ideal route for students completing our FdA Game Art and our FdSc Computer Game Design and Production, and any similar programme from outside SGS/University Centre WISE would be suitable. You will learn industry standard techniques and technologies to empower you as a Game Artist or Developer. The programme has been designed to provide some flexibility so that you can follow your own preferences to shape your career prospects. This allows you to develop your own specialisation, which is documented through the portfolios you’ll create for the assessments throughout the course. You can be confident of completing the programme with an effective and innovative professional portfolio which you can use to enhance your future career opportunities. This Level 6 programme comprises four modules, one of which is shared with our newly validated BA (Hons) Media Production (Level 6) programme, to enrich your student experience. Your BA (Hons) Game Art and Production (Level 6) programme enables you to develop a balance of employability skills alongside specialist technical knowledge and understanding, with a focus on the application of your skills in a range of contexts. The programme has been designed to allow elements of collaboration with other programmes, such as the Media Production courses and the successful Specialist Make-Up Design cluster. University Centre WISE has also developed its own Games Studio, Get Kraken Games @UCWISE, which will give you varied opportunities to become part of real projects, further enhancing your specialist skills as well as your professionalism and interpersonal skills. If you love playing sport, you could continue to play at an elite level whilst studying. Our well-structured Sports Academy programmes delivered by professional coaches providing training, strength and conditioning, sports therapy and some of the best sporting facilities in the South West of England, at our WISE campus in Bristol.
