Course summary
This course is a top-up to the FdSc Civil & Coastal Engineering (or similar) into a full honours degree. The course consolidates the skills and knowledge you have previously acquired and will be co-delivered with the University of Plymouth. Civil engineers will play an integral role in the development of civil infrastructure in the coming years, drawing upon their knowledge to combat the issues presented by growing populations, increased urbanisation, climate change and severe weather events. You will benefit from the exceptional facilities at the College, whilst Torbay itself has 2 miles of coastline and is a UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark, making an exceptional location to study coastal disciplines. Assessment method
There are two formal or summative assessed pieces of work for each module. Assessment methods can include written examinations and a range of coursework assessments such as essays, reports, portfolios, performance, presentations and projects. The grades from formal assessments count towards your module mark. In addition to formal assessments throughout modules of study there will be developmental (formative) assessments to support you with developing greater understanding of your progress. The approximate percentage of the course assessed by coursework is as follows: 84% coursework, 16% exams/test
