If you’re passionate about the biological sciences, this Higher National Diploma (Level 5) course could be ideal. It is designed to provide you with a broad range of skills, knowledge, understanding and personal qualities required to work in a biological science-based field. This course is also suitable if you are currently employed in a relevant industrial sector and are seeking higher-level qualifications to develop further your career. About the course This Level 5 HND top-up course is intended for those applicants who have already obtained (or expect to achieve) a full Level 4 in this subject. You’ll develop knowledge and understanding of biological theories and practice to be able to apply them in a variety of science-related industrial contexts. HND modules include: • Physiology of Cellular Systems in Animals • The Immune Response System • Neurophysiology and Homeostatic Control of the Human Body • Biochemistry of Macromolecules and Metabolic Pathways • Pharmacological Principles of Drug Actions • Work-based Experience • Personal and Professional Development • Employability Skills • Project for Applied Science New City Hub campus The Life Sciences department is based at the college's new £58 million City Hub campus, near Nottingham train station. The campus opened in the Spring of 2021 and features state of the art teaching and learning facilities, science laboratories, with a restaurant, cafe and performing arts venue. Assessment Units are assessed via a range of internally set and assessed assignments including: reports, case studies, oral presentations, practical assessments, individual project work, data analysis, research, investigation, problem-solving tasks and portfolios of evidence. Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed.
