Our accelerated degree programme enables you to complete a full BSc (Hons) in Applied Sports Coaching in just two years. An accelerated programme works by extending the semesters and reducing the breaks between them. We call it our Fast Track programme for a reason! This programme aims to develop you as a sports coach with a passion for your profession and an understanding of the skills you need to support coaching everyone from novices to elite performers. You will develop quickly as an innovative and knowledgeable coach who can excel in a wide range of environments. As an Applied Sports Coaching student you will be presented with learning opportunities that are both varied and challenging. You will be introduced to a set of industry-based standards that require you to problem solve and be creative in the ways in which you apply these in practice. The approaches vary within and between modules, allowing students with varying preferred learning styles to benefit equally. This will contribute to your lifelong learning and employment opportunities by giving you real applied teaching, coaching and supervisory experiences. You will also have opportunities to coach with and join one of our many renowned Sports Academy teams, gaining useful insights into how theory works in a performance setting. See below for further information. On this programme, scheduled learning includes lectures, tutorials, project supervision, demonstration, practical classes and coaching sessions; workshops and practitioner observations. Independent learning includes essential reading, case study, placements, assignment preparation and completion. To prepare you for your professional life, you will have plenty of opportunities for work-based learning experiences, which will allow you to identify areas of interest and build a portfolio of applied practice. You will also be able to negotiate individually with course-relevant placements and practice. There is an emphasis on preparing you for further study or employment within the coaching industry. Creating meaningful links with other programmes of study and local professionals will facilitate a network of contacts that are relevant to your learning and employment prospects. You will be based at our new University Centre on the WISE campus in Bristol, which has superb, professional standard sports facilities, including three standard football pitches, two 4G outdoor pitches, an artificial football/rugby pitch, twelve 5-a-side pitches, a 40-station gym, weights room, Sports Science Lab and Performance Lab, an American Football Gridiron, fully licensed sports bar, sports hall and physios.
