Gain heavily sought-after skills on this challenging and enjoyable course which provides you with a firm foundation in Mathematics. This course has a very good reputation in the UK mathematics community and has been run for more than 30 years. This degree is mainly focused on applied and computational mathematics and is carefully designed to maximise students’ enjoyment of their mathematical studies. This course will meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation, awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, when it is followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught Master’s degrees. Our Mathematics team are research active and internationally recognised with an extensive network of collaborations with leading researchers in the UK, Europe and worldwide. The team actively encourage a high level of student involvement in the teaching and learning process, and small year-group sizes allow for a more personal learning experience for our students. Foundation Year courses have been designed for students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications needed to enter directly into the first year of a degree but who have the ability and commitment to do so. Once the Foundation Year has been completed successfully, you can then go on to complete your degree.

The student satisfaction data is from students surveyed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of student respondents and response rates can be important in interpreting the data – it is important to note your experience may be different from theirs. This data will be based on the subject area rather than the specific course. Read more about this data on the Discover Uni website.
