The Foundation Degree in Art at the brand new Quarry Hill campus develops your creative talent whilst equipping you with the specific employability skills to help you to get ahead and become a successful artist. The course has excellent links to the creative industry and you will be using these right from the very beginning by creating public exhibitions, working with artists, designers, gallerists and curators: selling your work, promoting yourself, visiting exhibitions, interviewing artists and art organisations, developing media campaigns, working with the public, getting to grips with the business of art, and by critically understanding the changing identity of the artist, and the art market. We welcome applications from students working in a wide range of creative disciplines, our current students work across; Drawing, Painting , Sculpture, Graphics, Illustration, Video, Print, Digital, Textiles, Photography, Installation and more. The Art Foundation Degree is now housed in our brand new £60m Quarry Hill campus with state of the art facilities. We have brand new studios, exhibition spaces, state of the art student work zones, and, importantly, a building which is exclusively for our degree students. The new college building sits in the Cultural Quarter of Leeds alongside the BBC, Leeds College of Music (which is also part of the Luminate Education Group, along with Leeds City College), Northern Ballet, and Leeds Playhouse, currently undergoing redevelopment. Between the sites, a shared space is in the process of being created, which will open up access to buildings and amenities. This course has received excellent feedback from the creative community who have commented on the importance in today's creative education to develop graduates with the necessary skills to thrive within the industry, which makes this an innovative and forward thinking art and design programme.
