Course summary
This qualification is an initial teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. Successful completion will enable you to:
- Adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching
- Reflect on your own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and areas for development
- Analyse principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation
- Analyse roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners
- Develop and effectively use of a range of teaching and learning resources to include e-learning
Modules
You will be undertaking the following activities:
- Group learning activities
- Completing assignments
- Planning and delivering teaching and learning (30 hours minimum)
- Wider reading and research
Assessment method
You will be assessed by completing a portfolio of evidence. This will consist of a mix of assignments, evidence or practical teaching and observation reports. You will also plan and deliver teaching and learning (30 hours minimum) as well as complete wider reading and research.

Qualification requirements
All students must have access to 30 hours of teaching either in-service or on a teaching placement, in a post 14 context A Level 3 certificate or extensive experience in your subject specialism A full level 2 English (Lang) and Maths qualification are desirable as these are a requirement for QTLS and most employers GCSE English (Lang) and Maths will be mandatory entry requirements from September 2024 onwards. You must be 19 or over
