This course will offer you an exciting opportunity to progress into the construction industry as a design specialist, with a technical understanding of how buildings can be constructed to the highest standards. You will build the knowledge and skills to enable you to take an architectural concept and develop it into a sustainable construction solution. On completing this course you will be able to progress to work in multi-disciplined working environments as a key member of the project team, bridging both design and construction specialisms. Becoming a design and construction professional offers a multitude of career options moving forward, with a huge range of options in terms of the industry sector and type of project you would like to be involved in. This degree will put you in a strong position to start and progress with this type of career pathway. The teaching team work closely with industry and have developed the course to reflect the demands of the construction sector, and the key opportunities that exist for graduates. The course is delivered through on-site experience of construction, real-life case studies, and opportunities for field trips and masterclasses from industry leaders and innovators. The course aligns with the education framework of the main accrediting bodies, the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). Foundation Year In the foundation year you will study three days per week. The focus will be on academic writing skills and numeracy, plus subject-specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree. The course has been designed to develop your skills and to prepare you for entry onto the first year of your chosen course. It provides a balance between content related to your chosen subject and the range of wider skills required for undergraduate study. This is an integrated four-year degree, with the foundation year as a key part of the course. You will be required to pass the foundation year in order to progress to the first year of your bachelor’s degree. This course is ideal for those who do not meet our standard entry requirements or those with a non-standard educational background. It will allow you to graduate with a full undergraduate degree in your chosen subject in four years. Why choose this course?
