Course summary

Explore the skills needed to create, produce and perform high-quality electronic music on this innovative, industry-focused degree. You will gain a deep understanding of essential and advanced composition and production techniques, experiment with live electronic music performance technologies and explore innovative ways of delivering your music, incorporating the latest hardware and computer-based performance technologies. You will leave with the ability to think creatively, critically and commercially, setting you up to be productive with your skills and position yourself for a successful career in the music industry. Modules

Throughout your three years, you will explore new and exciting methods of sound creation and manipulation using industry-standard software, such as Ableton Live and Logic Pro. You will develop the commercial and career-development skills needed to prepare for a future in the music industry and connect with experienced professionals through your access to our guest lecture programme. Modules could include: Year one In your first year, you’ll get to grips with the fundamentals of DAW and studio production and gain a deeper understanding of electronic music by honing your critical ear and sound design skills. You’ll explore industry-standard studio equipment and learn how to make a living from your music and skills. Modules ● Studio Practice ● Electronic Music Production ● Production Analysis ● Mixing ● Synthesis & Sound Design ● Industry Foundations Year two You’ll push your productions to new levels by exploring advanced mixing and mastering techniques and experimenting with a range of hardware and immersive audio technologies. You’ll also learn how to perform your music live, all the while developing your professional and academic research skills. Modules ● Hardware Production ● Immersive Audio ● Advanced Mixing & Mastering ● Electronic Music Performance ● Industry Practice ● Research Practice Year three You’ll prepare for industry or further study by developing your professional portfolio, developing production tools and exploring opportunities for innovation in electronic music. You’ll also design and implement a self-directed research project that explores a subject or practice of your choice.
