Mathematics is fundamentally important to modern society, particularly in its contribution to the financial world. The Department of Mathematics and Aberystwyth Business School established courses in Financial Mathematics in response to the increasing demand from employers in the financial sector for graduates with an understanding of mathematics. This scheme's integrated foundation year is an opportunity for prospective students who may not have the relevant academic background to acquire a solid foundation in mathematical and financial theory to continue on to an honours course in Financial Mathematics. The mathematical core of the degree will teach you key skills in algebra, calculus and statistics and you will gain a solid understanding of the principles of economics and of financial accounting and management from the Business School.
