Course summary

This emerging new field examines how the behaviour of individuals, groups, organisations and societies are influenced by technology. This covers a wide range of areas, including education, entertainment, social media and cyber security. Why study BSc (Hons) Cyberpsychology at BU?

Foundation Year: We have a Foundation Year option for UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the scientific skills needed to prepare you for the Cyberpsychology degree, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress to the full degree and begin your Cyberpsychology study. This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society, so when you graduate with at least a Second Class Honours, you are eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

During the foundation year, you will study the following units: Applied Sciences, Academic Study Skills, Introduction to Biology, Introduction to Psychology, Mathematics in Science and a Foundation Year Project. During the undergraduate course study core units include: Experimental Methods and Statistical Analysis; Biological and Cognitive Psychology; Social Psychology and Individual Differences; Developmental & Clinical Psychology; Human Computer Interaction; Statistics & Research Methods; Developmental and Applied Cyberpsychology; Personality, Intelligence and Social Psychology; Biological Psychology; Cognition & Language; Cybersecurity & Cyberwarfare; Psychology of Social Media & Videogames; Psychology of Cybersecurity; Psychology Project. Option units include (choose two): Forensic Psychology; Memory & Decision Making; Mind, Brain & Evolution; Neuroimaging; Mind Over Matter in Medicine; Face Recognition & its Disorders; Health Psychology; Educational Psychology & Special Educational Needs; Cultural Psychology; Current Trends in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience; Counselling Psychology; Emotions, Mental Health and Affective Neuroscience and Psychology of Sexualities.
