Course summary

In choosing to study Aberystwyth University's BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree you will experience a programme designed to be interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary in nature. Combining disciplines such as Physiology, Psychology and Biomechanics, Sport and Exercise Science provides you with the applied skills, knowledge and competencies that will act as the foundation for your future career. This degree is endorsed by the British Association for Sports and Exercise Science (BASES), within the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) - an internationally recognised research and teaching centre. At Aberystwyth, we place great emphasis upon practical skills, so that our graduates become practitioners from the word go. You will have access to extensive research and teaching labs equipped with the latest equipment, including bioimaging facilities, high-throughput DNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics and spectroscopic platforms. You will be taught by research-active staff at the forefront of knowledge, and emerge from your course with the knowledge, competencies and skills to forge a career in this fascinating field of science. This degree programme prepares you to support athletes, promote physical activity and health, and deliver exercise programmes, as well as developing your research, data analysis, personal and employability skills. Previous graduates from our degree have developed careers in professional sports, personal coaching, governing bodies of sport, healthcare, education and the Ministry of Defence.
