Course Summary Launch your career in business with the University of the West of Scotland’s BA (Hons) Business degree. Programme Highlights The recently revised BA (Hons) Business programme follows the University’s new Curriculum Framework and Strategy for Teaching and Learning. Programme Details From business and organisational theory, to marketing, strategy, and operational and industry-related issues, UWS’s BA (Hons) Business programme covers a wide range of topics – providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the business world and its realities. The programme’s core module skills are designed in line with graduate trainee programme entry requirements to give you a head start for a career in national and international organisations. Careers This programme will prepare you for entry to graduate management programmes (postgraduate study), as well as careers in national and international public, private and voluntary organisations. Modules

Year 1 In the first year of your studies, you will be introduced to key areas of business including finance, human resources management and marketing. You will be supported to become an effective university-level learner, as well as develop your communication, time management and presentation skills. Year 2 In the second year of your studies, you will develop skills and knowledge across a range of business disciplines that are highly relevant to contemporary organisations, including an understnading of ethics and digital workplaces. You will also have the opportunity to delve deepers into subject introduced during the first year of your studies, including human resource management and entrepreneurship. Year 3 In the third year of your studies, you will explore emerging business issues, as well as develop an understanding of various specialised areas, including strategy, organisational culture and leadership. You will also learn research methods in preparation for undertaking a dissertation in the final year of your studies. Year 4 In the final year of your studies, you will complete a dissertation on a topic of your choice, whilst continuing to develop your understanding in the areas of business, management and organisation studies.

Assessment method

Alongside learning independently, you will frequently engage in group work, which will ensure you will develop key transferable skills, including presentation, communication and teamworking skills. The reason for this is that it’s essential that you are able to read, speak and understand the English language to get the most out of your time at UWS. TUITION FEE INFORMATION - SCOTTISH STUDENTS: Eligible Scottish domiciled students can usually apply to have their tuition fees paid for them each year of their studies by the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). If you're not sure about your eligibility, you should contact SAAS. You need to apply to SAAS each year of study to have your tuition fees paid directly to UWS. TUITION FEE INFORMATION - UK, IRISH & GIBRALTARIAN STUDENTS: Eligible students who are domiciled in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland as well as from the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar or the Republic of Ireland will qualify for tuition fees of £9,250 per academic session of study to a maximum of three years if you are studying on a four year bachelor degree course (eg. BAcc (Hons) / BA (Hons) / BEng (Hons) / BSc (Hons)). So, if your degree is four years' duration, you will only be charged tuition fees for three years. Similarly, if you are studying a five year integrated master's degree course (eg. MEng (Hons)) the you will only be charged tuition fees for four years. TUITION FEE INFORMATION - INTERNATIONAL (NON-EU) & EU STUDENTS: These tuition fees apply to all non-EU, EEA, and all other EU students (excluding those from Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar, whose fee level is as per UK (non-Scottish) students - see section above for more details).
