Course summary

Our Mechanical Engineering programme aims to give you a strong understanding of mechanical engineering. You will learn how to apply this knowledge in design and solving various engineering problems. Mechanical engineering is essential in all branches of industry where machines are used or created, and there is a growing need for skilled engineers in this field. This programme will address the environmental aspects of design and technology, helping you gain skills relevant skills desired by industry. You will learn to be creative and innovative, overcoming challenges by using your skills and knowledge in physics, mechanics, and materials science. You will focus on problem-solving by using, computational, analytical, and technical skills. We will also help you develop a professional outlook and the ability to work well in a team. You will become an effective communicator who can take responsibility and manage tasks efficiently. Throughout your studies, you will gain experience with advanced manufacturing technologies and learn about applied mechanics and computer-aided design. You will also explore topics such as fluid mechanics, material testing, mathematics, and electronics. By studying mechanical engineering with us, you will prepare for a career that can take you into various sectors, including aerospace and manufactured products. You will develop analytical abilities and sustainable practices, making you a versatile engineer ready to tackle future challenges.

Assessment method

Students on this type of programme come with a natural interest in their specialism and the teaching team aims to tap into this interest so students enjoy learning and appreciate the benefits which an engineering degree can add to reinforce their areas of interest. The assessments for the programme will be a mix of coursework and formal examination. Modules such as group project and Major project will also have presentations where you would be given the opportunity to showcase your work.
