Course summary

Our MSc Finance and Management is accredited by the CIMA and designed to fast-track the careers of graduates from non-finance backgrounds who want to pursue a career in financial management. Successful modern organisations depend upon effective decision makers who are equipped with core skills in business, finance and management. Underpinned by the latest research and commercial best practice, this master's will prepare you for the ever-changing nature of today's business environment. You will develop an understanding of business and management by studying across a range of areas, including marketing, human resources (HR), accounting, strategic management and, in particular, finance. Your financial knowledge and skills will be further developed within accounting and finance modules. You will explore how organisations operate and the influences of the external environment, such as economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technological factors, along with their effects at local, national and international levels. You will also consider how organisations are managed and financially controlled, and how markets operate for different financial products. You will benefit from the expertise of our renowned research active academics to help you develop your knowledge and analytical skills in finance relevant fields and ensure that you will graduate with the essential skills sought by employers.

Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree with a minimum of 55% or equivalent international qualification. Evidence of numerical proficiency, as demonstrated through the study of mathematical or statistical subjects in some part of the first degree. Applicants with relevant professional experience or professional qualifications would be welcomed. Applicants with a substantial finance component to their degree should apply to one of our specialist Finance programmes.

Additional fee information

The tuition fees shown are for new students commencing the first year of study in the specified year only. The fee stated is for a full-time student undertaking a master’s programme of 180 credits. Part-time students, or those taking a postgraduate certificate or a postgraduate diploma, should divide the published fee by 180 credits and then multiply by the number of credits they are taking to calculate their tuition fees. Fees are reviewed annually and are likely to increase to take into account inflationary pressures.
