Course summary

This work-based learning Level 6 Top-Up degree is designed to be undertaken on completion of a foundation degree, or other Level 5 qualification, in an area related to the support of children, young people and families. This degree is an ideal preparation for a range of roles and responsibilities within the integrated, extended or children’s services. You will have the opportunity to develop subject expertise while engaging with current debate and professional practice. You will be introduced to new concepts and higher order skills such as synthesis and critical evaluation and will be supported in this by a specially designed induction programme. Topic areas include evaluating debates around children’s services and the challenges of working across multi-agency boundaries.

• Safeguarding and Supporting Welfare • Specialist Family Intervention • Evaluating Current Debates and Developments • Leadership in a Multi-Agency Environment • Work Based Research: Research Proposal Project. You will develop reflective practitioner skills and the application of theory to practice when you undertake a range of work-based activities including workplace analysis in terms of practices and models of management, teamwork, safeguarding and welfare. You will be introduced to the key issues related to ethical practice and how to reflect critically on the work place in a professional fashion.
