Course summary

The MRes in English is designed to allow you to develop and complete an independent research project in English Literature and/or Language, with the support of a well-qualified supervisor. An initial Research Methods module will ensure that you have the necessary skills to advance to the dissertation. Why study this course with us? Your supervisor will be part of a team of active researchers, with a specialism in the field you wish to pursue, and therefore well-placed to help you shape your project. You will also be joining a dynamic community of postgraduate researchers in the Department of English and Faculty of Arts and Humanities. While you will be developing as an autonomous and independent researcher, the Department recognises the importance of academic guidance and pastoral care, and offers a supportive and creative environment in which to learn and study.
