Foundation Degree Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport at Canterbury Christ Church University - UCAS

Course summary

Develop new skills and knowledge in physical education theory and practice while studying at university and learning in the workplace. Our foundation degree is designed to run alongside your formal employment or volunteering, which will be in sport, fitness, health or PE. One of the benefits of the course is that once completed, you can return to study the BA top-up and gain a full degree whenever you are ready. You'll explore physical education across age ranges, and study similarities and differences between teaching and coaching in physical education, physical activity and sports. As well as learning about the curriculum, theories, concepts and policies related to physical education and physical activity, you'll be encouraged to reflect on the role you have in your work place or as a volunteer. You'll use your experience to generate ideas about how to include all learners in physical activities from children through to adults. The nature and value of sport will also be addressed through practical and theoretical environments and the role of the coach/teacher to facilitate positive experiences through sport.
