Foundation Year courses have been designed for students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications needed to enter directly into the first year of a degree but who have the ability and commitment to do so.
Your transformation from student to a finance professional begins from day one. Your Foundation Year (Level 3) will provide you with a broad subject knowledge base that will introduce you to the key themes and perspectives relating to your chosen degree. You will also develop the academic skills needed to succeed in your degree area, such as academic writing, referencing and public speaking. From Year 1 (Level 4) you will develop authentic finance skills through practical application and real business experiences. Making extensive use of up-to-date technology, you will gain the kinds of skills and analytical abilities employers seek. You will be exposed to key concepts in business finance and in areas such as leadership, Marketing and people management, strategic management and sustainable Entrepreneurship. This solid foundation will support your advanced studies into specialist areas including risk management, financial reporting and analysis for management, and the role of the finance manager.
The modules are assessed through a combination of assignments, examinations, group and individual projects. Our teaching directly supports the development of your key skills, knowledge and understanding that are relevant to the assessments.
