Course summary

This part-time programme meets the requirements of the revised Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard. Eligible organisations are able to use £14,000 of their Apprenticeship Levy to cover Part I of the programme tuition fee. Part II can be funded by the employer or employee. Find out more about our Postgraduate Apprenticeships. The Cranfield Senior Leader Apprenticeship+ Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc (Executive) programme has been designed in two parts. Part I provides a distinctive and collaborative learning experience, with intense and interactive classroom sessions. You will develop procurement, logistics, and supply chain management skills, knowledge and confidence, enabling you to be an effective leader within your organisations. Our world-leading teaching team place a huge emphasis on real-life challenges and industry best practices, which you can apply back to your own organisation. This programme will improve your ability to critically select the tools and techniques that are most relevant to the challenges your organisation is facing. On completion of the taught modules, you are qualified to progress onto Part II, the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc (Executive), which enables you to cement your learning and complete a significant work-based project within your organisation. Successful completion of the MSc provides you with a unique opportunity to gain full membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), and European Logistics Associations (ELA), the three world-leading professional bodies in the fields of logistics, procurement and supply chain management. You will benefit from a diverse student cohort and our faculty’s direct involvement with global businesses. On successful completion of Part I and Part II you will be awarded the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc (Executive) and will have a deep understanding of contemporary business issues and a capacity to assume active leadership roles. Core modules: supply chain concepts; logistics management; supply chain analysis and modelling tools; information, sales and operations planning; finance and procurement management; supply chain design; quality and performance in supply chains; research methods; supply chain of the future, international logistics study tour.

Assessment method

The Cranfield Senior Leader Apprenticeship+ Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc (Executive) is delivered in two parts: • Part I: 12 modules are studied over a 15-month period. During this time, students build their portfolio of work-based evidence with support from their employer and their Cranfield Apprenticeship Tutor. Students also have peer coaching alongside their studies. This concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA), completed over a five-month period, which includes the student’s Strategic Business Proposal, supported by their employer. • Part II: Progression to the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc (Executive) over a further six-month period including research preparation and an organisation-based or relevant research project. Course delivery: Part I: taught modules are mapped to the revised Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard (SLA). These are assessed through assignments that relate to a wide range of logistics, supply chain and management themes. Part II: the written thesis project, is written individually and submitted at the end of the course.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from talented candidates of all backgrounds and a degree is not always necessary. Each application is considered on its individual merit, taking into account both qualifications and work experience. Usually candidates must have two years’ work experience and hold either: - first or a second class UK honours degree in a relevant discipline, or - international relevant degree - equivalent of UK qualifications. Candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered if they have a professional qualification (e.g. from CIPS, CILT, and APICS) together with relevant work experience. If you are an international student you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved a satisfactory test result in an English qualification. The minimum standard expected from a number of accepted courses are as follows: IELTS - 6.5; TOEFL - 92; Pearson PTE Academic - 65; Cambridge English Scale - 180; Cambridge English: Advanced - C; Cambridge English: Proficiency - C. Before an application is submitted for the Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme, you need to have approval from your employer. You have to be employed and your employer has to agree to provide you with the support and supervision to carry out your job role and your apprenticeship. It is a requirement of the Apprenticeship Funding Rules that you are working at least 50% of your contracted hours in England. A three-way agreement needs to be put in place between Cranfield University, the employer and the student.
