Audiovisual material and associated technical skills are a fundamental, and increasingly significant component at the cinema, on television, at music venues, theatres, festivals, conferences, and for corporate, charity and public sector organisations. The live audiovisual industry reports a shortage of technically competent staff needed to plan and deliver events involving sound, light, and video projection. There is also a shortage of site-specific audiovisual technicians permanently based in institutions.
