Course summary

Course information This program is designed for students who wish to explore game development and game art production. The course will focus on the development of art skills needed to succeed within the games industry. Traditional art skills will form the foundation of your work. This will then be developed digitally using 2D and 3D methods. Game prototype, animation and game VFX will be covered so you will develop a range of art skills that will be industry focused. The aim of the course is to develop skills in art, animation, 3D, and game engines. This is to further understand the integration of each discipline within the wider industry. You will develop an understanding in advanced methods and techniques, developing a portfolio of work that will allow you to apply for further study or a job within the industry. The course is focused on the design aspect of the industry making sure students understand the various pipelines that are integral to successful game production. This course will take place Monday – Friday between 9am and 5pm. Timetables will be issued at the start of term. You will study 13 hours a week in college and will be expected to develop work outside of these hours. This can be at home or at college where you can gain access to software and computers at all times. We will endeavour through our partners to ensure all students gain some form of work experience. This could be an actual placement within the chosen industry, workshops and/or industry talks. This will further your understanding of the opportunities and expectations set out in the games industry. We have a number of links to industry including partnerships with NextGen to ensure you gain an outstanding learning experience with us and are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to progress to a career in industry.
