The Introductory Certificate in Counselling focuses on developing counselling skills by providing a solid foundation in the key aspects of the discipline. It introduces students to counselling theories and practice as well as to the ethical and professional context of counselling in the UK. The programme is suitable for a wide range of students:
- Students who wish to develop counselling skills and theoretical understanding to enhance existing job roles;
- students who wish to progress to a core practitioner training in counselling such as the Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling at Birmingham Newman University.
- Tutors who are experienced counselling practitioners.
- Introduces students to key approaches in the discipline.
- Learning is experiential and practical as well as academic.
- Regular opportunities to develop counselling and interpersonal skills.
- First step towards a professional training in counselling.

The total cost for this course is £1,200 for September 2024 and January 2025 starts*.
Unfortunately this course is not eligible for funding via student loans. However, an interest free payment plan can be offered in order to spread the cost over six months.
Please note a deposit of £100.00 will be required for applicants that accept an unconditional offer for this course. The deposit of £100.00 will be deducted from the course fee. If you do not commence the course however, the £100.00 deposit will be non-refundable, except in the event that the course does not run. Once you have been made an offer you can make payment for the deposit through our e-store.
