The BA (Hons) Business and Computing is designed to provide you with a broad understanding of business activity and focus on the influence of business and computing concepts in achieving a business’s strategic objectives. You will develop relevant management skills while exploring the current theories, techniques and issues of modern computing. You will acquire the practical skills that are essential within the rapidly changing environment of Computing, so that you can pursue a related career or further relevant academic study. Learning materials have been developed to allow you to make the best use of the time you have available for study and the programme delivery provides additional support online. The curriculum will explore how computing underpins all businesses in today’s modern world and how the two disciplines are fundamentally connected.
Modules are: Year 1 (Level 4) - Effective Interdisciplinary Study; Computer Technology; Information Systems in Organisations; Understanding the Business Environment; Principles of Marketing; People in Organisations; / Year 2 (Level 5) - Research Ethics in Action; Data Communications; Quality Systems in IT; Strategic Information Systems; Managing Across Cultures; Enterprise & Entrepreneurship; / Year 3 (Level 6) - Research Planning & Project; Current Trends in Networking; Management in IT; Contemporary Management Issues; International Management;
Assessments provide an opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in a number of ways and so a variety of methods are used, these could include: Assignment; Essays; Presentations; Case studies; Portfolios of work; Exams. To support your development and ensure you are on the right track with your studies we will provide you with tutor feedback on every assessment you submit. If required, your tutor may be able to give you suggestions for improvement and help you understand how to apply your newly acquired skills into real life settings.
