Course summary
The Top-up degree in Health and Social Care will be an excellent way to enhance your existing qualifications and open up new career possibilities. The Programme will enable you to expand on the knowledge and skills gained whilst studying the Foundation Degree. Particular emphasis will be placed on you developing your research skills, critical thinking skills and vocational practice. You will benefit from our strong industry links, with expert guidance and assessment feedback direct from employers. You will also complete a minimum of 100 hours, vocational work experience in the health and social care sector. The broad subject area allows you to tailor your assignments to your specific vocational interests. On successful completion of the programme, you have the opportunity to continue your learning and progress on to a Level 7 Masters Degree programme. Progression to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is also an option. Alternatively, you may progress directly into employment in the health, care, voluntary and charitable sectors.
Assessment method
You will have access to dedicated higher education facilities, e-learning and mixed media resources within the faculty and enjoy visits from guest speakers from the industry and employers. You will demonstrate your skills using reflection, presentations, IT and guided research. Assessment is completely coursework based and you will attend a mixture of lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and seminars.

Qualification requirements
For this Level 6 top-up qualification a Level 5 qualification or equivalent is required. GCSE Maths and English is required at grade C (or 4) or above (or equivalent O Level).
