This Master of Laws degree is a career-enhancing qualification that will equip you for a range of roles related to law, business and management. It offers a flexible learning experience across a range of law and business-related subject matter, providing a contemporary, practical, and innovative perspective that looks to the future and to the development of creative professionals and entrepreneurs. This course sits alongside a wider framework of legal and business education within the Bath Business School.


This course includes or offers the following modules. Please check the programme document for more information on which modules are core, required or optional. Trimester one You'll study two core modules:

  • Legal Systems, Research and Skills
  • Commercial Law.
and choose two optional modules from:
  • Obligations and Dispute Resolution
  • Employment Law
  • Governance and Risk Management
  • Strategic Brand Management
  • Digital Marketing
  • Advanced Academic and Business Skills.
Trimester two You'll study two core modules:
  • Business Law and Practice
  • Leading Change and Innovation.
and choose two optional modules from:
  • The Professional Lawyer
  • Cyberlaw
  • Entertainment, Media and Intellectual Property Law
  • Managing People
  • Sustainability
  • Corporate Financial Management.
Trimester three You'll choose to take either the Legal Clinic or Legal Research Project module.

Assessment method

You'll be assessed using a range of methods including exams, tests, practical exercises, presentations, case studies, reports, essays and portfolio and dissertation writing.

Entry requirements

We are looking for applicants with inquiring minds, an interest in legal study and a desire for a practical and contemporary focus on law in a business context. You'll have, at minimum, a lower second-class honours UK or ROI degree (or equivalent overseas NARIC qualification), or equivalent professional experience through APL or APEL (including at least two years' work experience). For international students: IELTS min 6.5 (min. 5.5 in each category). There may be visa and regulatory limitations relating to the Legal Clinic module option.
