Course summary
Do you want a career that is rewarding and fun? Working with children can offer that. Learn about all aspects of working with children on our Foundation degree programme. There are three key themes in the programme: knowledge of the education, development and care of young children 0-8; the professional development of practitioners; and the continuing development of excellence in practice in local settings. Appropriate knowledge and understanding of early childhood is embedded, together with skills relating to the use of ideas and information in the workplace context, and the ability to relate theory to practice in a reflective and critical manner. This course is primarily designed for face-to-face learning, with attendance during lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses, or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the campus is closed, TEC Partnership will deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted, with some lessons taking place in small groups and others using online sessions and support.

Assessment method
A range of assessment techniques will be used such as essays, reports, presentations, padlet, academic posters and professional development portfolios.

Qualification requirements
Standard Level 3 qualification in a related topic area such as early years, health and social care or Access to HE GCSE maths and English Grade 4/C or above Non Standard The TEC Partnership will also encourage applications from non-traditional learners who lack formal academic qualifications. All such non-traditional applicants will be interviewed, set an appropriate piece of work (entry assignment) and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience. Accreditation of prior learning Applicants may be admitted with credit for prior certificated learning (APcL) or work/life experience or other uncertificated learning (APeL) - refer to East Riding College Admissions Policy.
