Course summary

As of September 2023, this course will change from a Bachelor of Arts (BA) to a Bachelor of Science (BSc) to better reflect the quantitative and analytical nature of the course. There is no change to the course content. This Sandwich degree will provide a gateway to a career in financial services by improving your knowledge of economic theory whilst gaining a valuable placement year in industry. This time spent working in business provides you with crucial work experience, which is highly prized and much sought after by employers upon graduation. You will focus on applied Economics, training you to think like an economist from day one. You will gain a solid grounding in the main elements of economic analysis, while learning about its application to public and private organisations. You will make sense of a range of important issues affecting our everyday lives and improve your decision-making skills in ways that are relevant to the discipline of Economics. This course achieved a 100% satisfaction rating in the National Student Survey 2022. As an Economics student, you’ll have access to our unique Business Lab facility. With double-screen workstations, the room gives you a simulated experience of working in the fast-moving world of shares and trading. You can access sophisticated analysis tools and Bloomberg Terminal data on worldwide financial markets. Nottingham Business School enrols its economics students with The Society of Professional Economists (SPE), which is the leading organisation serving professional economists in the UK.
