Course summary

This course is for anyone who wants vocational experience while developing an extensive knowledge of sports management issues and concepts within the leisure industry. It will give you the relevant skills and abilities to work in the private, public or voluntary sector. Alternatively, students can join the final year of the BA (Hons) Sports Management degree programme at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. You will also work towards coaching qualifications, a Level 2 gym instructor qualification and a safety steward qualification. In year 2 you will be required to undertake 120 hours of work placement.

Year 1 (Level 4): • fitness and well-being management • research methods and learning in a digital era • sport event management • sporting organisations and leadership • sport, physical activity and society • sports coaching and performance reviews Year 2 (Level 5): • applied coaching and high-performance cultures • community sports planning and delivery • managing the professional and elite sports environment • sports infrastructure, design and operation • the cultural sporting world • work placement and building a personal brand for sustainable employment

Assessment method

Assessments include phased tests, reports, portfolios, practical activity, work logs, reflective writing and presentations.
