The Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism sector is one of the UK's largest employers. The sector employs in the region of two million people accounting for 1 in 14 UK jobs, according to People 1st Sector Skills Council (2009). We aim to provide an exciting overview of the industry and inspire you to develop your own professionalism and Independence. During the course, there may be opportunities to gain additional qualifications. We aim to take groups on trips, visits and a residential will be included within your course fees and a substantial contribution to an overseas residential will be provided from your course fees. On successful completion of the course, you will be in a position to seek employment at a Supervisory/ Managerial Level within the Hospitality or Travel Industry. Alternatively, you may progress your studies with a one-year Honours degree top-up, available at Bradford College or another Higher Education institution.
You will study a combined Personal Development Planning and Work Based Learning module and Management modules: Management & Organisational Behaviour, Finance, Marketing and Managing People. The Management Modules: Management and Organisational Behaviour and Managing People each include a two-week placement. During the course, there will be opportunities to gain additional qualifications. We aim to take groups on trips, visits and residentials in which you will be expected to participate. You will also study modules relating to the Hospitality and Travel Industry: Impacts and Effects of Travel and Tourism, Worldwide Hospitality Industry, Food & Beverage Operations and the Airport & Airline Industry, along with two industry option modules in the second year.
A variety of learning methods are used: group work, independent study, research, mentoring, and work shadowing. A variety of teaching methods (lectures, seminars, workshops, discussions, debates) are used and all teaching staff are professional practitioners and keep in touch with industry. A variety of different assessment methods are used: essays, presentations, case studies, reports, tests, project, practical and portfolio. The ethos of Foundation Degrees is focused on work. If you are not in employment, your tutors will help you to find appropriate work placements. A work-based project is a mandatory part of the course.

Some credit points may be accrued through the Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL).
