MMath Mathematics equips you with knowledge of advanced mathematical and statistical methods and the skills to use them in today's complex world.

Develop computational expertise, coding skills, physical and biological modelling skills. Become adept at statistical analysis and research.
Apply your knowledge to a variety of real-world problems through industry case studies and project work. Take a placement year and gain valuable experience, benefitting from the insights and perspective this brings.

Our espressoMaths drop-by station provides daily support and advice on an informal, one-to-one basis. Weekly MathsArcade sessions are a forum for students and staff to meet and discuss issues arising from particular modules, from the course as a whole, and from mathematics in general.

The final master’s-level year provides a deep understanding of relevant concepts and reflects the research interests of mathematics staff. The course provides an excellent preparation for a research-based career or for going on to doctoral study.

As a graduate you’ll have solid mathematical knowledge and well-rounded professional skills. Step into a variety of roles across sectors including research, data science, finance, economics, health, the Civil Service, logistics, mathematical and statistical modelling.

A level Grade A or A* in Mathematics. Points from A-Level General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken on to full A-Level) can be included towards the overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) DDM To include Merit in one of the following units: Further Mathematics for Technicians or Further Engineering Mathematics; Further Mathematics for Construction and the Built Environment or Further Mathematics for Construction. Please list the units that you are taking in your application.
Access to HE Diploma D: 15 credits
M: 15 credits
P: 15 credits
Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction in Mathematics (before you apply, ask us which Maths units you need to do) and 15 level 3 credits at Merit in another subject. Please list the units you are taking in your application.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal Maths requirement can also be met by the Cambridge Pre-U Mathematics at Merit 3.
GCSE/National 4/National 5 Grade C / 4 or above in English Language, or equivalent and Grade B/ 5 or above in Mathematics. Please note the University does not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as suitable alternatives to GCSEs.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme To include a minimum grade of 6 in higher level Mathematics.
