Bournemouth University has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
We have greater flexibility with our entry requirements during Clearing, so let’s talk about your future. Call us on +44 (0)1202 966777 to find your place at BU this September.
Discover what binds and divides us, explore identity, class, cultural difference and social change, and examine how we experience it all in our daily lives! Taught by expert sociologists, social anthropologists and biological anthropologists, you will explore sociological and anthropological perspectives on important contemporary issues, such as globalisation, post-conflict interventions, migration, terrorism and protection. All of these with a special emphasis on applying theory to local and international policy and practice. 100% of our final students who study sociology courses are satisfied with the quality of the course (National Student Survey, 2018).
What makes it especially interesting is the integrated 30-week or 20-day work placement, which you can complete anywhere in the world, in your second or third year. This can boost your employability by developing professional skills and establishing crucial networks.
You will study a range of subject areas including Culture & Society, Health & Society, Ancient People and Places and the History of Social Welfare. You’ll also be able to choose from a number of optional units such as Themes in Archaeology, Animals & Society and 'Troubling' Gender in years two and three to tailor your study.
How to apply
You can no longer submit a new application for courses starting in 2019.
If you already have a 2019 application and are in Clearing, you can add this course as a Clearing choice in Track – contact the university or college first to check they have places.
If your application is completed by the following date, it’s guaranteed to be considered:
15 January*If you apply after this deadline, universities or colleges don’t have to consider your application if they’ve filled their spaces, so the sooner you apply, the better!
You will need these codes when you add a choice to your application.
