This is a joint honours course featuring History and History of Art. You will be able to choose from a selection of modules from both of these courses to create a programme that is tailor made for you. Modules
In the History element of the course, what you study includes: Year 1 gives you a broad overview of the topics and issues from the 16th century to the present. Year 2 compulsory modules are complemented by optional modules covering a range of subjects including imperialism, crime and medicine. All Year 3 modules are double credit modules. Coursework takes many forms, from book reviews and web blogs to group projects and a dissertation. In the History of Art element of the course, what you study includes: Year 1 has six modules covering skills, issues and debates in the history of art and architecture from the Renaissance through to the Modern period. Years 2 and 3 give your studies a period focus by offering options from the 15th to 20th centuries such as Oxford Buildings or Anthropology of Art. Year 2 also includes a study trip to Paris. Year 3’s dissertation module will allow you to work in depth on a topic of particular interest to you.
