Course summary

Discover what can impact on the UK Public Sector. The qualification will develop your academic writing skills, management and leadership skills and motivate you towards further study onto a BA(Hons) Top Up Degree. The Public Sector Business environment and key concepts will be explored, and the impacts of the economy on the Public Sector. You could also apply for a Public Sector Graduate programme, as well as gain the appropriate level of qualification to apply for more specialist roles within the Public Sector, such as Researcher, a senior role within the Armed forces or a role in the Emergency Services, Local Council/Government, Courts, Prison Service and the Probationary service. The programme modules are varied and allow you to explore case studies linked to the Public Sector's past experiences and future plans. Extended research skills will be developed and management and leadership theories investigated, and you will create and undertake projects to support third sector organisations and analyse and evaluate data and Human Resource Management. Legislative requirements will be explored in depth, and amendments to current legislation considered, with a focus on human resource management, equality and diversity and ethical issues. Once you’ve successfully completed the Foundation Degree you’ll have a clear understanding of the Public Sector industry, gained relevant practical skills, and be able to confidently undertake and interpret academic research that will allow you to progress onto the BA (Hons) Level 6 Top Up in Public Sector Management, or into employment.

You will be assessed during the Foundation Degree through different assessment methods such as presentations, written reports and essays, information leaflets, posters.

Standard 48 UCAS points from level 3 studies, Access to Higher Education or other relevant level three qualifications.
